Boundless Way Zen Northampton offers in-person Zen meditation practice on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. We welcome those who are fully vaccinated, including boosters, to join us. Masks are optional within the building, including during meditation and chanting service. Do not attend in-person practice if you have tested positive for Covid, have any typical Covid symptoms (cough, fever/chills, sore throat, conjunctivitis/itchy eyes), or have a known exposure to anyone with Covid.

We offer an online Zen practice discussion group on the first Monday evening 0f each month from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. If you wish to receive the reading and Zoom link, but are not on our email list, please email dacaruso@mac.com. We also offer four half-day zazenkai practice opportunities each year. Notice of the dates will be sent to our email list.

Our Northampton Practice Group

We warmly welcome you to the website for Boundless Way Zen Northampton, a local practice group of Boundless Way Zen Temple. On this website you will find information about our weekly meditation practice meetings, practice traditions and forms, and Boundless Way Zen Temple’s Guiding Teachers. There are also links to other Boundless Way Zen Temple practice locations.

Boundless Way Zen Northampton meets every Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM for Zen meditation practice in the parlor of the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence, 220 Main Street, Northampton, Massachusetts. Anyone is welcome to attend our Wednesday evening Zen practice periods. There are no special requirements and no cost, although donations are gratefully accepted.  We sit meditation (zazen) for 25-minute periods, and do a few minutes of walking meditation (kinhin) between periods.  More detailed information about our practice can be found under the About and First Visit tabs.

If You are New to Zen

Please use our contact page or email (dacaruso@mac.com) to let us know you are coming or simply arrive at 7:10 PM for a brief orientation and instructions. For basic information, see "Before You Come" and "What to Expect" under the First Visit tab.  The entrance door is on the right side of the building near the rear.  An introductory book some have found helpful is John Daishin Buksbazen’s, Zen Meditation in Plain English.
